Head and Cylinder Bolts

180,000 tensile strength ARP stainless (chromoly 200,000 tensile strength studs are non-stainless).
The fluted shanks allow the studs to stretch to prevent the threads from pulling out. The bolts don’t loosen and oil leaks are eliminated. Special triangular reduced shank studs help align the head with the cylinders.  Fluted bolts have a larger diameter than reduced diameter shanks and more resistance to twist than reduced diameter bolts. Stock heads require installation of US 3/8″ coarse thread TimeSerts or Helicoils.  Full Auto heads with British thread Helicoils need conversion to US threads with oversize TimeSerts (“Big-Serts”).
